The Best Is Yet To Come
Human nature is to look forward and to truly hope that there is something better coming next.
We all hope for more and better. We affirm this when we say, “We believe things will be better tomorrow” or “The best is yet to come!” I know we all want to hold on to hope for better and brighter things and we should! But many of us, myself included, say we believe there is something better coming, but we refuse to stop looking back.
I have found myself longing for who I used to be, where I used to live and work, the friends I used to have, my old routine, etc. I longed for all of this while confidently shouting to the world “The best is yet to come!” That doesn’t make any sense…
If what I had before wasn’t the future and I believe that the best things for my life are in the future, not the past. Why can’t I see that and look the other way?!
God is always moving us forward and because it pulls us out of our comfort zone or doesn’t look like or move as quickly as we hoped, we retreat to the familiar. We look back and long for what was instead of learning in the middle of what is and what’s to come. The person I choose to be or not to be will get me to the future. If I choose to dig my heels in and only look back, I will be a shell of what I should have been.
If I can let go of what has happened and what I think my life should look like based on who I WAS, I can be molded into the new person God wants me to become. I was created by Him and if I will only trust Him and let Him, He will continue to mold me throughout my whole life. He sees the end result, I can’t start as a finished product, I have to be molded and formed to be ready for the greatness and the best that is yet to come.

Wow! This is so good and it hits so close to home for me. Thank you for this insight. The best IS yet to come.
