Create Margin

Do you get frustrated at work because you never have time to get everything done? If you lead people, chances are your work is the last to get attention. You are always answering one question or another and moving from fire to fire to put them out.

This can cause resentment for the people you lead and frustration with your job. It doesn’t have to be that way. Have you ever scheduled time for yourself? Literally, put a meeting with yourself on your calendar. In this time, treat is as a meeting. Don’t schedule things over it, but use it to catch up, send emails, get things done.

Doing this simple exercise at least once a week will create so much freedom. You will enjoy answering the questions and putting out the fires. You will find new ways to empower and help others and you will have joy back in your job.
